Responsibilities
- Process incoming emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police units using CAD systems
- Maintain accurate radio communication with officers during active incidents
- Enter and update critical information in law enforcement databases
- Multi-task during high-pressure situations with calm professionalism
- Collaborate with fire/EMS agencies during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher certification training program
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM (will be tested)
- Clear criminal background check and drug screening
- Fluent in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Valid Texas driver's license (required post-training)
- Pass psychological evaluation and polygraph examination
