Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gather critical information, and dispatch appropriate resources
- Operate multi-line telephone systems, radio equipment, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all communications and activities
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel during critical incidents
- Remain calm and professional under pressure while handling multiple simultaneous tasks
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and departmental policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must pass criminal background check and polygraph examination
- Typing speed of 40+ words per minute with accuracy
- Ability to pass a hearing test and clear voice communication assessment
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- U.S. citizenship and residency in Nebraska
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
