Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with exceptional speed and accuracy
- Operate CAD/RMS systems to dispatch field units and maintain real-time incident logs
- Provide life-saving instructions via phone during critical incidents
- Coordinate seamlessly with police, fire, EMS, and other city agencies
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to departmental protocols
- Document all communications and actions with meticulous detail
- Participate in rigorous scenario-based training simulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum 40 WPM typing proficiency with 95% accuracy
- Valid California driver's license
- Pass extensive background check and polygraph examination
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure and multitask effectively
- Fluency in English (Spanish bilingual strongly preferred)
- No criminal history beyond minor traffic infractions
- Successfully complete dispatcher aptitude testing
