Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and empathy
- Operate CAD/RMS systems and radio equipment during training
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate with police, fire, and EMS units during dispatch
- Adhere to NENA and TCOLE protocols for emergency communications
- Participate in scenario-based training exercises
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Valid Texas Driver's License (Class C)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified through assessment)
- Proficient in computer navigation and multi-tasking
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
- Must pass TCOLE Dispatcher Certification within 12 months
