Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls, assess caller situations, and dispatch appropriate personnel
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Maintain accurate records of all incidents and communications per department protocols
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents (e.g., medical emergencies)
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during large-scale incidents
- Participate in continuous training to maintain certification and procedural knowledge
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations for emergency communications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Valid California driver's license with acceptable driving record
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Strong situational judgment and emotional stability under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn specialized dispatch software
