Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls from public and field units
- Dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS personnel using CAD systems and radio protocols
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate call logs and documentation per department standards
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Operate complex communication equipment including radios, telephones, and computer systems
- Remain calm under extreme pressure while making critical decisions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be 21+ years old (per state requirements)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with high accuracy
- Exceptional communication and de-escalation skills
- Basic computer proficiency with ability to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
- Valid Alaska driver's license
