Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with professionalism and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communication
- Enter and maintain accurate call data in public safety databases
- Provide clear instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Coordinate with other emergency agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-agency responses
- Monitor radio channels and maintain situational awareness
- Complete all training modules to become a certified dispatcher
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ WPM with accuracy
- Clear speaking voice and excellent communication skills
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn new systems
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask effectively
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Must be available for rotating shifts including nights/weekends
