Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units with precise location and critical incident details
- Maintain accurate radio logs and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) records
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Provide pre-arrival medical instructions via EMD-certified protocols
- Operate complex communication systems during high-pressure situations
- Adhere to strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (verified certification required)
- Ability to pass background investigation and polygraph examination
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license
- US citizenship or permanent residency status
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- EMD certification preferred (training provided if not certified)
