Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with compassion and professionalism
- Operate radio communication systems to coordinate police, fire, and medical responses
- Enter and maintain accurate data in CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems
- Maintain radio contact with field units and provide critical information
- Calmly manage crisis situations and prioritize incoming calls
- Complete comprehensive training modules on dispatch protocols and procedures
- Collaborate with multi-agency responders during emergency incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and polygraph examination
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM)
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure
- Basic computer literacy and technical aptitude
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Washington State driver's license
