Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls using CAD systems and multi-line telephones
- Dispatch police officers, fire, and EMS units with precise location and incident details
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in compliance with NIMS standards
- Provide critical pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Monitor radio communications and coordinate resources during critical incidents
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and mapping systems efficiently
- Collaborate with cross-agency responders during multi-jurisdictional events
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Proficient in typing (minimum 35 WPM) and computer literacy
- Excellent active listening and de-escalation communication skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts with flexible scheduling options
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- U.S. citizenship and Virginia residency required
- Must pass medical and psychological fitness evaluations
