Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls with empathy and accuracy
- Dispatch police/fire/EMS units using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident reports
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line phone systems
- Coordinate with cross-agency responders during critical incidents
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions
- Adhere to all NIMS protocols and department procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Michigan driver's license
- Typing speed ≥ 40 WPM (verified assessment)
- No felony convictions; clean background check
- Ability to pass psychological evaluation and polygraph
- Shift flexibility (nights/weekends/holidays required)
- Basic computer literacy (Windows/MS Office)
