Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via phone, radio, and digital systems
- Dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS units using CAD software and radio communications
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation in compliance with state regulations
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations
- Coordinate with other agencies and city departments during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Operate and maintain communication equipment including radios, telephones, and alerting systems
- Participate in ongoing training to maintain certification and operational proficiency
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy (tested during application)
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure situations with sound judgment
- Clear communication skills with ability to speak English fluently
- Must be available to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
