As a Police Dispatcher Trainee, you will play a critical role in saving lives and protecting property. You will learn to operate state-of-the-art communications equipment and work alongside experienced professionals to ensure the safety of Bakersfield residents.
Responsibilities
- Monitor police, fire, and emergency medical service radio frequencies for alerts and distress calls.
- Dispatch emergency units to the scene of incidents based on information received from callers.
- Receive and process non-emergency calls from the public, providing information and assistance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all dispatch activities and calls for service.
- Enter and update data into CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems efficiently.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to field personnel during emergency situations.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel upon completion of the trainee program.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid California Class C Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation, drug screen, and medical exam.
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in high-stress environments.
- Basic computer proficiency is highly desirable.
