Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service with accuracy and composure.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of all dispatch activities and calls for service.
- Communicate effectively with field officers and other emergency services personnel.
- Provide critical information and guidance to callers during stressful situations.
- Monitor radio frequencies and alert personnel to changing conditions or new information.
- Assist with administrative duties related to records management and reporting.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in typing (minimum 35-40 words per minute).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, think critically, and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical examination.
