Responsibilities

  • Monitor law enforcement radio frequencies and emergency communications channels for incoming calls.
  • Dispatch appropriate emergency units (Police, Fire, Medical) based on incident type and location.
  • Gather and verify essential information from callers, including location, nature of emergency, and descriptions of suspects or vehicles.
  • Coordinate field units, maintain scene safety, and provide real-time updates to responding officers.
  • Maintain accurate logs of all calls, dispatches, and unit movements in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
  • Handle high-stress situations with composure, ensuring clear and accurate communication under pressure.
  • Assist in training new dispatch personnel and upholding departmental protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Communications is a plus.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over the phone.
  • Ability to type 35+ words per minute with high accuracy.
  • Strong decision-making skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
