Responsibilities
- Monitor law enforcement radio frequencies and emergency communications channels for incoming calls.
- Dispatch appropriate emergency units (Police, Fire, Medical) based on incident type and location.
- Gather and verify essential information from callers, including location, nature of emergency, and descriptions of suspects or vehicles.
- Coordinate field units, maintain scene safety, and provide real-time updates to responding officers.
- Maintain accurate logs of all calls, dispatches, and unit movements in the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system.
- Handle high-stress situations with composure, ensuring clear and accurate communication under pressure.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel and upholding departmental protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Criminal Justice or Communications is a plus.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable driving record required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly over the phone.
- Ability to type 35+ words per minute with high accuracy.
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Background check and drug screening will be required.
