Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical personnel to incidents using CAD systems.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs and records of all communications and dispatch events.
- Communicate effectively via two-way radio and telephone with field units, supervisors, and other agencies.
- Monitor weather conditions and traffic patterns to anticipate potential emergencies.
- Provide information and assistance to the public and other city departments.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing and report preparation when not on dispatch.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Valid Class C Texas Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to type at a minimum speed of 35-40 WPM.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
