Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls with speed and accuracy.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incident scenes using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain continuous radio communications with field units, providing status updates and tactical information.
- Enter and update incident reports and criminal data into state and local databases.
- Assist in crisis intervention and suicide prevention calls by providing emotional support and resources.
- Monitor security cameras and surveillance equipment to assist in situational awareness.
- Collaborate with other dispatch centers and external agencies during multi-jurisdictional events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Alaska driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Proficiency in using computers and navigating complex software applications.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional during high-stress, life-threatening situations.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
