Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize 911/emergency calls with exceptional speed and accuracy
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems while maintaining radio communications
- Maintain detailed records of all calls and incident activities
- Perform multi-tasking during high-stress emergency situations
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in medical or crisis scenarios
- Operate various communication equipment per department protocols
- Collaborate with other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Complete all required training modules within specified timeframe
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
- Valid California Driver's License or ability to obtain within 30 days
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified during testing)
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving dishonesty
