Responsibilities
- Screen passengers, carry-on baggage, and cargo using TSA-approved X-ray machines and metal detectors
- Conduct thorough pat-down searches and baggage inspections to detect prohibited items
- Operate advanced security technology including CT scanners and explosive detection systems
- Maintain strict compliance with TSA protocols and federal security regulations
- Provide clear communication and assistance to travelers during screening processes
- Report suspicious activities, threats, and security breaches to supervisory personnel
- Document security incidents and maintain accurate screening records
Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass comprehensive background investigation and drug screening
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds
- Proficient in English communication (reading, writing, speaking)
- Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Basic computer literacy for security system operation
