As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive training to master emergency communication systems, radio protocols, and emergency medical dispatch (EMD) procedures. Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls using Multi-Line Radio Systems (MLRS).
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident scenes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain precise records of calls, logs, and incident reports in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Communicate effectively with field officers to provide critical information, location details, and status updates.
- Monitor and control radio traffic to ensure clear communication channels for all units.
- Provide crisis intervention and caller assistance during high-stress situations.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel and maintaining station equipment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or certification in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM) with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual candidates are highly preferred.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure, life-or-death situations.
- Must pass a background investigation, drug screen, and medical exam.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
