Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services.
- Dispatch law enforcement units, fire crews, and medical responders to scenes based on location and resource availability.
- Enter and maintain accurate incident reports, logs, and data in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide critical information to first responders via radio, ensuring they have the details needed for safe and effective operations.
- Monitor emergency service frequencies for updates and relay vital information to officers in the field.
- Perform basic administrative duties, including answering phones and assisting the communications center staff.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a United States Citizen.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
- Valid Class C Minnesota Driverβs License and a safe driving record.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to undergo a thorough background investigation, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
