Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to incidents utilizing a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all dispatch activities, incident reports, and field units.
- Provide critical information and instructions to responding officers and citizens via radio and telephone.
- Monitor radio frequencies and traffic to ensure officer safety and situational awareness.
- Perform data entry and typing at a high speed with a high degree of accuracy under pressure.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Excellent typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM) are mandatory.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-stress, emergency situations.
- Valid Kentucky driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and medical examination.
