Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response Coordination: Receive and accurately prioritize incoming 911 and non-emergency calls, determining the nature and location of the incident.
  • Dispatch Operations: Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to deploy law enforcement, fire, and medical units to the correct locations with essential details.
  • Radio Monitoring: Continuously monitor radio frequencies and CCTV systems to detect suspicious activity, pending calls, or officer requests for assistance.
  • Information Management: Maintain precise, up-to-date records of all calls, dispatches, and incidents within the department database.
  • Public Communication: Provide clear, calm, and professional instructions to callers, including scene safety and instructions until help arrives.
  • Interagency Collaboration: Communicate effectively with other emergency service agencies and government entities during multi-agency incidents.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or Communications preferred.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
