Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency 911 and non-emergency calls from the public accurately and efficiently.
- Dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical units to incidents based on location, unit availability, and resource allocation.
- Maintain continuous situational awareness of all active calls and unit status through computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Provide essential information and instructions to callers, victims, and responding officers to ensure officer safety.
- Enter and update accurate data regarding incidents, arrests, and property into departmental records and databases.
- Coordinate inter-agency communications and mutual aid requests during major events or large-scale emergencies.
- Perform shift work, including nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Must be willing to undergo a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, drug screening, and medical evaluation.
- Ability to remain calm, composed, and make quick, logical decisions under high-stress and chaotic conditions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a significant plus.
