Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately process emergency (911) and non-emergency calls from the public.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to incident locations using computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain precise and detailed logs of all communications, incidents, and unit activities.
- Monitor radio frequencies and security surveillance systems to identify and respond to potential threats.
- Provide vital information to responding officers and coordinate their movements in the field.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel upon completion of the trainee program.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Valid New Jersey driverβs license with a clean driving record.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly under pressure.
- Ability to multitask effectively and prioritize incoming information in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in basic computer operations and typing (40+ WPM).
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
