As a Dispatcher Trainee, you will learn to monitor radio frequencies, answer emergency and non-emergency calls, and coordinate the response of police, fire, and emergency medical services. You will play a critical role in keeping our community safe while building a long-term career in public service.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Communications: Continuously monitor police radio frequencies and emergency lines to receive and dispatch information.
- Coordinate Response: Relay critical information to law enforcement officers and fire personnel in the field to ensure rapid response times.
- Process Information: Accurately enter data into Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and maintain detailed incident logs.
- Public Contact: Provide information and assistance to the public via phone and in-person interactions in a professional and calm manner.
- Escalate Emergencies: Recognize high-risk situations and effectively coordinate resources to resolve crises.
- Support Operations: Assist senior dispatchers with administrative tasks and ensure the communications center operates smoothly.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate required.
- Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Experience: No prior experience required. We provide full training.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely under pressure.
- Citizenship: U.S. citizenship or legal residency status required.
- Background: Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, including a criminal history and drug screen.
- Technical: Basic computer literacy is helpful but not mandatory.
