Job Summary
As a Police Dispatcher Trainee, you will serve as the critical link between the public and law enforcement officers. You will learn to manage emergency communications, coordinate response efforts, and provide essential information during high-pressure situations. Our training program will equip you with the skills needed to become a certified 911 Dispatcher.
Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and process emergency and non-emergency calls for service.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units to incidents using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all dispatch activities and incident reports.
- Provide vital information to field personnel, including traffic conditions and unit status.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems for the city.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee program.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screen, and psychological evaluation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure in emergency situations.
- Proficiency with computers and data entry is a plus.
