Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls via telephone, radio, and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical units to incident scenes based on priority, location, and resource availability.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all calls, incident logs, and status updates in the dispatch database.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, traffic signals, and radio frequencies to provide real-time situational awareness to field units.
- Coordinate closely with other dispatch centers and interagency agencies during complex, multi-agency incidents.
- Provide clear, concise information and assistance to the public regarding city services, non-emergency matters, and safety tips.
- Perform data entry and maintain inventory of equipment and supplies as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history and drug screening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong ability to multitask in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Proficiency with computer systems and typing (minimum 35 WPM is preferred).
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a good driving record.
