Responsibilities
- Receive & Prioritize Calls: Answer incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls via radio and telephone, accurately assessing the nature and urgency of each situation.
- Dispatch Units: Coordinate the deployment of law enforcement, fire, and EMS personnel to incidents using the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Record Keeping: Maintain precise, up-to-date logs and records of all calls, incidents, and unit activities in the department's database.
- Communicate: Provide clear, concise, and professional instructions to field personnel and citizens during high-stress situations.
- Support Operations: Assist in answering non-emergency inquiries, processing service requests, and performing clerical duties to support dispatch operations.
Qualifications
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- License: Valid Kansas driverβs license with a good driving record.
- Availability: Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to multitask under pressure.
- Background: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screen.
