Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units with precision
- Maintain constant communication with field officers during active incidents
- Enter and update critical information in CAD/RMS systems with 100% accuracy
- Provide clear, calm instructions to callers during medical emergencies and crisis situations
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents and natural disasters
- Monitor radio frequencies and surveillance systems for public safety threats
- Document all communications and actions in compliance with department protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; college degree preferred
- Minimum 18 years of age with U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Ability to pass extensive background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy (verified by test)
- Fluency in English; bilingual Spanish skills highly desirable
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
