Responsibilities
- Receive, screen, and prioritize incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incidents using two-way radio systems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all calls for service and dispatch activity.
- Provide critical information to responding units, including location, type of incident, and suspect descriptions.
- Monitor city surveillance systems and CCTV feeds to assist in situational awareness.
- Assist in the training of new dispatch personnel during the trainee phase.
- Perform data entry and update records in the department's Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record is required.
- Excellent typing speed (minimum 35-40 WPM) and computer proficiency.
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and make quick decisions under stressful conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
