Responsibilities
- Sort and Process Mail: Accurately sort incoming and outgoing mail by ZIP code and size using automated sorting equipment and manual methods.
- Load and Unload Vehicles: Safely load mail onto trucks and unload packages at various distribution centers and retail stations.
- Delivery Operations: (For Carrier positions) Deliver mail to residences and businesses along a designated route in all weather conditions.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, answer questions, and resolve complaints regarding mail delivery.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine safety checks and basic maintenance on delivery vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, and exceptions.
Qualifications
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods (4-8 hours) throughout the day.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for carrier positions (CDL not always necessary for entry-level clerks).
- U.S. Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal right to work in the United States.
- Good Vision: Ability to read mail labels clearly and pass a vision screening.
- Reliability: Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with the public.
