Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies for city departments and initiatives
- Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and digital communications across multiple platforms
- Manage media relations, including press conferences, interviews, and crisis communications
- Create engaging content for city websites, social media, and public outreach campaigns
- Analyze public sentiment and media coverage to inform strategic communications
- Coordinate with city officials, community leaders, and stakeholders on messaging alignment
- Plan and execute public events, town halls, and community engagement forums
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of professional communications or public affairs experience
- Expertise in media relations, crisis communication, and strategic messaging
- Proficiency in content creation for digital platforms (CMS, social media tools)
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Valid Florida driver's license (if required for field activities)
