We're seeking a dedicated Public Health Compliance Specialist to ensure regulatory adherence across food safety, sanitation, and environmental health programs. As a key member of our enforcement team, you'll collaborate with epidemiologists, inspectors, and community outreach coordinators to implement Ohio's Public Health Code. Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public pools to verify compliance with state health codes
- Investigate public health complaints and prepare detailed violation reports with corrective action plans
- Develop and deliver educational materials to businesses and community groups on sanitation practices
- Maintain accurate digital records in the Ohio Public Health Information System (OPHIS)
- Collaborate with legal counsel to prepare cases for administrative hearings
- Train junior inspectors on regulatory requirements and documentation standards
- Participate in emergency response planning for disease outbreaks and environmental hazards
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of regulatory compliance or inspection experience
- Valid Ohio Public Health Sanitation Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency in GIS mapping software and database management systems
- Strong written communication skills for drafting violation notices and training materials
- Ability to interpret complex state health codes (Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 3701)
- Valid Ohio driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with public speaking and community education preferred
