Responsibilities
- Analyze public health datasets using SQL, Python, and R to identify disease trends and health disparities
- Develop interactive dashboards and reports for policymakers and community stakeholders
- Collaborate with epidemiologists on outbreak investigations and surveillance systems
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and California data privacy regulations
- Present findings to diverse audiences including local health departments and community groups
- Support vaccine distribution planning and evaluation metrics
- Contribute to health equity mapping initiatives for underserved populations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Statistics, Data Science, or related field
- 3+ years experience in health data analysis or epidemiological research
- Proficiency in SQL, Python (pandas, matplotlib), and R (tidyverse)
- Experience with GIS mapping tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis
- Knowledge of public health surveillance systems (e.g., NEDSS, WISQARS)
- Familiarity with California's Healthy Places Index and social determinants of health
- Ability to communicate complex data to non-technical audiences
