Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and disease outbreaks
- Enforce local, state, and federal health regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Educate businesses and residents on health compliance standards
- Collaborate with epidemiologists and emergency response teams
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding regulatory violations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Valid Michigan Public Health Inspector certification
- Minimum 2 years of inspection or regulatory experience
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Michigan Public Health Code
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation
