Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive food safety, environmental health, and housing code inspections across commercial and residential properties
- Lead outbreak investigations and implement emergency response protocols for public health threats
- Develop and deliver targeted training programs for high-risk industries (food service, childcare, healthcare)
- Analyze complex data to identify emerging health risks and recommend policy improvements
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and prosecute violations
- Mentor junior inspectors and coordinate interdepartmental emergency response initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Environmental Science, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of environmental health inspection experience
- Valid California Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Advanced knowledge of CA Food Code, Housing Act, and OSHA regulations
- Demonstrated experience managing complex public health investigations
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder engagement and crisis management
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and data analysis software
