Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate public health complaints and enforce local/state health codes
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Educate business owners on sanitation best practices and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with epidemiologists during disease outbreak investigations
- Testify in administrative hearings regarding code violations
- Participate in emergency response planning for public health crises
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of regulatory inspection experience
- Valid Florida Public Health Inspector certification
- Strong knowledge of FDA Food Code and Florida sanitation regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings/weekends
- Certified in food safety (ServSafe or equivalent)
- Valid Florida driver's license with clean record
