Responsibilities
- Manage emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police, fire, or medical units to incidents
- Maintain precise radio communication with field units during critical situations
- Enter and update information in the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during medical emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents
- Document all interactions with meticulous attention to detail
- Operate emergency equipment per established protocols
- Participate in continuous training and certification programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass extensive background investigation and polygraph examination
- Valid Nebraska driver's license with clean record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Strong multitasking skills under high-pressure situations
- Experience with computer-aided dispatch systems preferred
- Ability to maintain composure during traumatic events
