Responsibilities
- Dispatch emergency services (police, fire, EMS) during night shifts with precision and urgency
- Maintain real-time situational awareness using CAD systems and GIS mapping
- Manage multi-channel communications (radio, phone, digital) during critical incidents
- Document all interactions with detailed compliance reports for legal and operational review
- Coordinate with city agencies during major emergencies and disaster response scenarios
- Train on advanced crisis intervention protocols for high-stress nighttime operations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; college degree in criminal justice or communications preferred
- NYS Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 2 years experience in high-volume call center or public safety dispatch
- Proficiency in CAD systems (e.g., RMS, CAD) and GIS mapping software
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure during overnight emergency situations
- Valid NYS driver's license with clean record
- Fluency in English and Spanish required; additional languages a plus
