Responsibilities
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical emergency services via radio, telephone, and digital systems
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation in CAD software
- Provide crisis intervention and pre-arrival instructions to callers
- Monitor multiple communication channels during critical incidents
- Coordinate inter-agency responses during multi-jurisdictional emergencies
- Train new dispatchers on department protocols and equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ years public safety experience
- National Emergency Number Association (NENA) certification preferred
- Minimum 45 WPM typing proficiency with 95% accuracy
- Valid California driver's license and clean record
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Proficiency in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Ability to work rotating night shifts, weekends, and holidays
