Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction sites for compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards
- Review and approve engineering plans, permits, and development projects
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works infrastructure
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Ensure ADA compliance and environmental regulation adherence
- Testify in administrative hearings and legal proceedings as required
Qualifications
- Valid California Inspector certification (QACI or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection experience in public works
- Strong knowledge of California Building Codes and municipal regulations
- Ability to interpret blueprints, engineering plans, and technical specifications
- Effective communication skills for interacting with contractors and the public
- Proficiency with inspection software and GIS mapping tools
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to perform fieldwork in various weather conditions
