Responsibilities
- Perform manual labor including excavation, grading, and paving operations
- Operate light machinery (bobcats, dump trucks, compaction equipment)
- Assist in road maintenance, stormwater management, and park construction
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and city regulations
- Participate in emergency response for weather-related infrastructure issues
- Maintain accurate work logs and equipment inspection records
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale municipal projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid North Carolina driver's license with clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and materials
- Willingness to work in outdoor conditions (heat, rain, cold)
- Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and emergencies
- Preferred: 1+ years of construction or public works experience
