Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of public works projects including streets, drainage systems, and traffic control measures
- Review construction plans and specifications for compliance with city codes and regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city staff to resolve technical issues
- Enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations on construction sites
- Investigate citizen complaints related to public works projects
- Assist in permit processing and code enforcement activities
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in construction inspection or public works
- Valid California Class C Driver's License
- ICBO Inspector Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and construction inspection software
- Knowledge of California Public Contract Code and municipal regulations
- Strong communication skills for interacting with contractors and the public
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
