Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with specifications and safety standards
- Review engineering plans and blueprints for accuracy and feasibility
- Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports using GIS mapping systems
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve technical issues
- Enforce city ordinances and state regulations related to public works construction
- Manage project documentation and maintain accurate records in municipal databases
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in civil engineering or construction technology preferred
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or field engineering experience
- Valid Kentucky Professional Engineer Intern (PEI) certification required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, GIS mapping systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of local building codes and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet standards
