Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, and utilities
- Verify compliance with city codes, OSHA standards, and federal regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate project documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Review construction plans and specifications for technical accuracy
- Train junior inspectors on inspection protocols and safety procedures
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction quality or safety hazards
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of construction inspection or field experience
- ICC Certification in Building Inspection preferred
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean record
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong knowledge of Michigan construction codes and ADA requirements
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and physical environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
