Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, loaders, and dump trucks for infrastructure projects
- Perform road maintenance, drainage system repairs, and sidewalk construction
- Conduct daily inspections of public facilities and report maintenance needs
- Assist in emergency storm response and debris removal operations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety protocols and environmental regulations
- Maintain accurate work logs and project documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on large-scale municipal projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operation experience
- Valid Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Certification in OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in extreme weather conditions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and basic tool maintenance skills
- Must pass pre-employment physical and background check
- Experience with GIS mapping or asset management systems a plus
