Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites for compliance with approved plans and safety regulations
- Document violations and issue correction notices to contractors
- Review building permits and engineering plans for regulatory alignment
- Coordinate with city engineers and contractors to resolve compliance issues
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Investigate citizen complaints related to construction activities
- Testify in legal proceedings regarding code violations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in construction technology preferred
- 3+ years experience in construction inspection or related field
- Kentucky Inspector Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficient in blueprint reading and construction materials testing
- Valid Kentucky driver's license with clean record
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and local building codes
