Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects including roads, bridges, and drainage systems
- Verify compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city departments
- Investigate citizen complaints and resolve infrastructure issues promptly
- Participate in emergency response during severe weather events
- Train junior inspectors on city protocols and safety standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience in civil engineering or construction inspection
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification
- Proficiency with CAD software and inspection reporting tools
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and remote sites
- Strong knowledge of Houston municipal codes and TxDOT standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- U.S. citizenship and ability to pass federal background check
