The City of Colorado Springs seeks a highly motivated Public Works Inspector to join our Infrastructure Department immediately. Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of public works projects ensuring compliance with city codes and safety standards
- Document findings and generate detailed inspection reports with photographic evidence
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and city officials to resolve compliance issues
- Review construction plans and specifications for accuracy and feasibility
- Maintain accurate records of inspection activities and project milestones
- Provide technical guidance to construction crews on regulatory requirements
- Participate in emergency response operations for infrastructure incidents
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of construction inspection or public works experience
- Valid Colorado Driver's License with clean driving record
- OSHA 30-hour Construction certification required
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain
- Strong proficiency in inspection software (e.g., FieldPavement, CityWorks)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must pass background check and drug screening
